A number of employers who provide on-site canteen/restaurant facilities have introduced salary sacrifice schemes, saving employees money on the cost of their meals. The canteen facility must be available to all staff, on the same basis and it makes no difference if the meal costs are already subsidised. The scheme lends itself very well to a cash-free environment, where the value sacrificed is simply credited to an account or card on a regular basis.
